DESCRIPTION:
Boston, unsigned , 8 day, banjo or patent timepiece. Stenciled on the backboard is label that reads: "Henry Willard, Clock Case, Manufacturer, Washington St., Boston". Henry was the son of Aaron Willard, Sr., and half brother to Aaron Willard, Jr. He was trained as a cabinetmaker and provided cases to the Willards and others, c1825.
CONDITION:
Mahogany case in very nice condition in an old finish. Original dial plate looks to have been repainted many years ago. Movement originally mounted to back plate with through bolts is now fastened with single screw through the back plate Nice lead weight with the name: "A. W. Conners" stamped in several places. Hands are original. . The tablets are old, but replacements by W. W. Sprague & Co. of Boston, ca. 1905. They are now backed with cardboard. Ht 30"
